Meet Jill Fredenburg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Fredenburg. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Jill Fredenburg, runs a socially-minded content production firm dedicated to helping you effectively tell your story online. With years of experience in video production, marketing, digital strategy, and social media training and coaching, Jill will help you understand how to best present your product, train your team in consistent, powerful messaging, and create a digital strategy to match your goals.

She founded her company after marketing her first book, LGBTQ+ Revolution 2.0, and finding joy in developing an authentic voice for the project. She earned an MA in Communication, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University in 2020 and is working towards a Ph.D. in Communication at the University of Memphis.

Returning home to Memphis at the start of COVID-19 allowed Jill to reevaluate her relationship with the place. Serving the Memphis community by providing multimedia consulting and style management feeds both her desire to teach and her desire to contribute to nonprofits and small businesses so that they can focus on their individual missions.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The pandemic has presented many challenges, especially for someone who prioritizes community health.

I continue to respect client boundaries and have created a flexible working environment that allows for virtual consultations and workshops in addition to in-person meetings where appropriate.

As an extrovert working in creative spaces, the past couple of years has been a mental struggle. My work keeps me motivated to stay positive through these challenges.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in telling the stories of creative individuals, entrepreneurs, and artists establishing themselves in the South. My work often lifts women and nonbinary business owners and those who identify as LGBTQIA, and I always work towards producing inclusive celebratory works.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Growing up in Memphis has given me a lucky perspective on the community.

I went to Rhodes College as an undergrad, and that is where I learned to love and respect this city and all of its culture. I often talk about the communities we have access to as privileges, and the people around me have made me incredibly lucky.
